we are approaching august, which means a number of things.
1) road trip to Arizona with friends Sarah, Brandon, and David- where she will begin studies at ASU and all will begin life in a new place. we're driving from good ol' De Pere, WI all the way to Phoenix, AZ. we are planning to move them in, explore Phoenix (hiking, nightlife, etc), take an excursion to Southern California, and then a few day camping trip (around Sedona). it will be a much needed vacation, and i have never road tripped with friends before! can't wait to see some mountains!
2) peace corps will be right around the corner! it IS right around the corner! less than two months! :) :) :) i completed my vaccination paperwork, printed off passport photos, filled out my financial loan forms, and will be receiving my 2010 elections absentee ballot by mail. the only thing i am not looking forward to are the good byes :( i will post the address of where i will be as soon as i get staging information/ more concrete details! along with this will be packing packing packing and alot of organizing! but i have a little bit of time to relax. (however it will be about a month left once i get back from AZ!!) can't believe it's almost here.
hope all is well with everyone.
i'll share a poem by emily bronte, as my parting words:
No coward soul is mine,
No trembler in the world's storm-troubled sphere:
I see Heaven's glories shine,
And faith shines equal, arming me from fear.
O God within my breast,
Almighty, ever-present Deity!
Life--that in me has rest,
As I--undying Life--have power in thee!
Vain are the thousand creeds
That move men's hearts: unutterably vain;
Worthless as withered weeds,
Or idlest froth amid the boundless main,
To waken doubt in one
Holding so fast by thine infinity;
So surely anchored on
The stedfast rock of immortality.
With wide-embracing love
Thy spirit animates eternal years,
Pervades and broods above,
Changes, sustains, dissolves, creates, and rears.
Though earth and man were gone,
And suns and universes ceased to be,
And Thou were left alone,
Every existence would exist in Thee.
There is not room for Death,
Nor atom that his might could render void:
Thou--THOU art Being and Breath,
And what THOU art may never be destroyed
